5 Myths about IITs that you might not know !!!
5 Myths about Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs)
You may have heard about the top-notch placements of IITs. But the reality of that placement is only limited to a few numbers of candidates.
There are different branches in engineering such as Computer Science (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Civil Engineering (CE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and many more, but the dream placements that you have heard are limited and mostly for CSE graduates. The rest of the departments are also placed very well, but the package is limited to 4LPA to 15LPA depending on their branches.
2. Branch doesn’t matter at IIT (Any branch at any IIT is best)
Let me burst this myth from your mind. You might have thought about taking admission to any IIT and branch for you has no relevance for your admission, then my friend you are going in the wrong direction.
Research properly as Google has all the answers available for all your questions.
Please don’t take any career decision without any proper research or any prior knowledge.
Branches are the most important factor for placements, future goals, government services, work in foreign, and many more.
So, choose your branch wisely by doing simple research on Google or kindly comment below so that I can contact you and tell you some stories related to branches.
Choose wisely so that you will never regret your decision.
3. All the CSE graduates got packages in crores
So, my friend, this is again a myth that all IIT CSE graduates got packages in crores, which is not true information.
Only a few of them, let’s say 1 or 2 graduates from top IITs got packages in crores. 50% of them got packages ranges from 20LPA to 50LPA and the rest of them got packages below 20LPA. This is the scene of top IITs and not the newer once.
The packages to the CSE graduates from newer IITs are much below. The average package of CSE from newer IITs is around 8LPA to 12LPA.

4. Need not have to worry after graduating from IITs
Yes, IIT is the best place for doing engineering but not always enough.
Let me break all IIT graduates into fragments and discuss about it. Some of the IIT graduates got some best placement offers, so they opt for a job.
Some of them need a job due to their poor family background or any personal reasons. So they opt for a job if they got the offer either for a limited or permanent period of time according to the situation of their family or personal reasons.
Most of the IIT graduates opt to prepare for different exams such as UPSC CSE, UPSC ESE, CAT, GATE, GRE, GMAT, and other top levels national as well as international exams.
5. All IITs are best
First of all, let me clear one thing that for doing engineering nothing is better than IIT.
But remember only Top/old IITs, such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT-BHU Varanasi, IIT-ISM Dhanbad, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Guwahati.
Other IITs are also good but not the best. Some of the State Level Engineering Colleges such as Jadavpur University, Anna University, Private Engineering Colleges such as BITS Pilani, Thapar University & most of the top NITs are better than the newer IITs.
You may opt for the above given colleges in place of taking admission into newer IITs. But one advantage that any IIT will give you is the brand value, that the student is an IIT graduate.
